“Surely the Lord God does nothing unless He reveals His secret counsel to His servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7)

God promises those who serve Him that He will tell them in advance what is going to happen.

For example, God told Noah that He was sending a flood to destroy the earth because of the evil deeds of men. So Noah was able to save his family and every species of animal by means of the ark (Genesis 6).

When God wanted to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because the sin of the cities cried out to heaven, "The Lord said, 'Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do, since Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation?'" (Genesis 18:17).

On the other hand, God also warns against the false prophets: "If they had stood in My council, then they would have announced My words to My people, and would have turned them back from their evil way" (Jeremiah 23:22).

The true prophets hear from God Himself: "I have now come forth to give you insight with understanding" (Daniel 9:22). God is speaking here about an understanding of what will happen in the future (Daniel 8:17-19).

Throughout the ages there have been servants of God and prophets who informed the nation of Israel and the Church in advance about what was going to happen.

Sadly, from the time of the book of Malachi in the Old Testament and the book of Revelation in the New Testament, many Jews and Christians believe that God has ceased to speak. Nevertheless, God is still speaking today through His servants and prophets, who follow Him with a pure heart and with all their soul and all their strength.
